Raise Your Profile at Work Part 2: Volunteer to Represent

Raise+your+profile.jpg

Try to be the representative for cross-departmental meetings, volunteer to speak at project or committee meetings, or at other high profile meetings. Tip: New to public speaking? DON’T jump into high profile meetings to speak! Start with smaller presentations and smaller team meetings. Develop this skill to grow your confidence.

Participate in Learning Opportunities. Take advantage of company-wide training events, seminars or "lunch and learn" sessions. When you participate, try generating a list of educated and thought out questions. Also try getting involved with new groups of people. You might learn more if you broaden your work network. Demonstrate Your Expertise Work on becoming the “expert”, it can develop your reputation as someone that others can come to for help. This can open new work projects, speaking and training opportunities, increasing your visibility. First, choose an area to build your expertise. You should already have some knowledge and strength in it. Be approachable and offer to train people or speak about your expertise at company events. This is a great way to provide you with visibility and contribute value.
