Raise Your Profile at Work PART 3: Mastermind Groups
What if you don’t have the ability to connect with other people in other departments? Try creating a Mastermind Group. These groups are based on a common interest. For instance, you could set up a group for people who are at the same stage in their career as you, or you could meet with people who want to learn a specific transferable skill. This will demonstrate your leadership ability and help you build even more new relationships.
Grow Your Network. You will never get to know other inside your organization or out if you spend your time hanging out with the same people every day. Your coworkers could be a great source of support for you but you should extend your peers well beyond your immediate team. However, be strategic! What are your networking objectives? How best to reach the people you want to build relationships with? Don’t forget, you can network with everyone outside of work hours as well. There is a degree of comradery and depth to conversation that can come out of meetings outside of work hours. Achievements Eat some humble pie! It’s not always going to be about you. Be humble – highlight other people's achievements, and always share the credit with those who have helped you along the way. It’s a two way street.
